The application of the 6 Enterprise Phases in sequences is a business planning tool that incorporates your business and professional narrative.

The process gathers knowledge and wisdom from the past,

Incorporates it into the present and empowers a future.

It is useful at every stage of a business enterprise or professional development activity.

The Six Enterprise Phases

The application of the Six Enterprise Phases is an effective means of appreciating all aspects of business activity. Each phase is unique and has a relationship with the other phases. Sequencing the phases including weaving minor actions into major phases takes the abstract of the disparate pieces and makes it concrete.

Creative Phase (CP) The idea activity that sparks the enterprise. Phase can be technology development, scientific research, prepublishing document preparation and product design. The danger is the phase can have no end, where the attention is always in design and development or it can be rushed and go to market too fast. It is characterized by gut or inspiration.

External Phase (EP) An unplanned focus on activity that does not support current operations. Substantial problems of personnel turnover and operational emergencies occur that ultimately undermine external confidence. This phase includes a business restructure distinct from previous operations, being involved in protracted litigation, search for financing or funding and attention on activity outside of core operations.

Internal Phase (IP) Indicates a preoccupation with handling organizational challenges through internal improvement and technological development initiatives. Typically occurs as a recovery from EP towards a level of sustainable performance. This phase requires an outside influence that provides new eyes and ears.

Social Phase (SP) An emphasis on networking, organizations and activities. This phase is useful in the context of marketing, publicity and relationship building as reflected in the social media sites. The activity is seductive for certain personality types and can be useful, of no advantage or detrimental.

Present Phase (PP) Indicative of good current performance with the continuous threat of vulnerability. By sequencing FP on a regular basis to examine product mix, regulatory, financial and cultural push/pull forces acting on the enterprise.

Future Phase (FP) The focuses on research, formulating and planning. This phase requires a disciplined approach that needs to include action initiatives. An over emphasis on business strategy and investment strategy planning that does not contribute to current commitments will likely fail for lack of day to day support.
